Planning a stay at Hotel Indigo Los Angeles Downtown? We spent one night here in a king room to see whether this IHG hotel is worth the price. We paid $305.61 for the room plus a $54 valet parking fee, which is the only on-site parking option.

The hotel sits in the heart of Downtown LA, surrounded by skyscrapers, restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues. Popular spots like Crypto.com Arena, L.A. Live, The Broad, and the Fashion District are all within a short drive, though DTLA traffic means that even quick trips can take 20–30 minutes during peak hour If you're wondering about parking, what the rooms are like, or how far Hotel Indigo is from LAX, this review covers everything we experienced during our stay.

Getting to Hotel Indigo Los Angeles Downtown

How Far Is Hotel Indigo from LAX?

Hotel Indigo Los Angeles Downtown is about 18 miles from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Depending on traffic, the drive can take 20–50 minutes. DTLA often gets congested during rush hour, so allow extra time if you’re arriving between 3 PM and 7 PM. The hotel does not offer an airport shuttle, so you’ll need to choose from ride-share, taxi, public transit, or a rental car.

Uber, Taxi & Public Transit Options

Uber and Lyft are widely available across Los Angeles, but prices jump quickly with traffic and surge pricing. Expect to pay:

  • $40–$60 for a standard Uber/Lyft

  • $80–$100+ for UberXL or larger vehicles

  • $50+ for a taxi

If you’re trying to save money, public transit is possible, but slow. Your closest stops are:

  • Union Station (train), 2.2 miles from the hotel

  • 7th St/Metro Center Station (subway), 0.5 miles from the hotel

Both require a connection from the airport and aren’t ideal with luggage.

Rental Car Options in Los Angeles

Rental cars are easy to find at LAX, and they’re useful if you plan to explore the city or surrounding areas. A basic sedan typically costs $50–$65 per day, but fees add up quickly:

  • $10–$30/day: liability coverage

  • Airport concession fees

  • Licensing surcharges & taxes

After everything is added, total rental costs often end up near $90–$100/day. For this stay, we drove in from Northern California, but when we fly into LA, we typically rent a car, it’s the most convenient option for us.

Check-In and Check-Out at Hotel Indigo Los Angeles Downtown

Check-In Process (Time, Staff & Arrival Experience)

Check-in at Hotel Indigo Los Angeles Downtown begins at 4:00 PM. We arrived later in the evening after a long road trip and were assisted immediately. The valet staff greeted us at the entrance, offered luggage help, and directed us toward the lobby. The front desk was friendly, efficient, and had us in our room within a few minutes. We only had one bag, so we didn’t need additional help, but the staff was attentive and welcoming. Check-out is at 11:00 AM, which is standard for most DTLA hotels.

Parking Options & Fees at Hotel Indigo Los Angeles Downtown

Parking is one of the most common questions for this hotel, and yes, it’s expensive, like most of downtown LA.

Here are your options:

Valet Parking (On-Site):

  • $50 per night

  • Easiest and safest option

  • Staff is available 24/7

  • Worth it during summer or busy weekends

We chose valet for convenience, the walk to alternative parking is through a rougher neighborhood, especially at night.

Self-Parking (Off-Site):

  • Approx. $32 per day

  • Located about 1 mile from the hotel

  • Cheaper, but not ideal

    • No in-and-out privileges

    • Long walk in hot weather or late at night

    • Not luggage-friendly

Our opinion: If your budget allows, valet is absolutely the better experience.

Room Details at Hotel Indigo Los Angeles Downtown

Bathroom Setup & Toiletries

The bathroom was spacious and stocked with plenty of towels and large pump-style toiletries. There’s no bathtub, but the standing shower includes a detachable handheld shower head.

A few things to note:

  • The shower head was mounted unusually low, making showering awkward for taller guests.

  • The shower leaked onto the bathroom floor, which seems to be a common issue given the sloped tile.

  • The toilet is tucked between two walls in its own enclosed nook, functional, but tight and slightly cramped

In-Room Amenities (Coffee, Safe, Extras)

In the bedroom area, we had a Keurig machine with a few pods and bottled water, which made it easy to start the morning with coffee before heading out.

The room also included:

  • a small in-room safe (inside the TV stand drawer)

  • a mini dining area

  • a comfortable sofa

  • solid Wi-Fi and plenty of outlets

Nothing felt overly luxurious, but everything we needed for a short stay was there and convenient.

Room Features & Layout

We booked a one-night stay in a king room and paid $305.61 (before parking). The room had a fun boutique feel, featuring colorful wallpaper behind the bed, matching bedding, and bold black-and-white tile accents in the bathroom. Despite the vibrant décor, the room showed signs of wear. While it was clean and had no odors or pet hair, the floors and some furniture edges were noticeably scuffed , common in pet-friendly hotels. The king bed was comfortable and inviting. We slept well, and we appreciated finding the breakfast menu tucked between the pillows, a small but thoughtful touch. The room also included a cozy sofa and dining nook next to the window. Our view was of the busy freeway with the LA skyline and hills in the distance, not glamorous, but still interesting to look at, especially at night.

Property & Amenities at Hotel Indigo Los Angeles Downtown

On-Site Restaurant & Lobby Bar

The hotel has a colorful, modern lobby bar and restaurant that immediately stands out when you walk in. It’s open for both dine-in and room service, and the menu features elevated bar bites, breakfast options, and cocktails We didn’t get a chance to try the food during this stay, but the space felt lively and inviting, a nice perk if you’re arriving late or don’t feel like heading back into LA traffic. If you’ve eaten here, let us know in the comments, we’d love to hear your experience for our next visit!

Fitness Center

The gym is surprisingly large for a downtown hotel, with:

  • treadmills

  • ellipticals

  • stationary bikes

  • a full rack of free weights

  • cable machines

  • benches

  • a stretching area

We had a solid workout here, and appreciated the little touches: a towel station, sanitizing wipes, and a cold water dispenser, all of which made the gym feel clean and well-maintained. For a quick morning workout before exploring LA, it had everything we needed.

Outdoor Pool

Right outside the gym area is the outdoor pool, which was impressively clean considering we visited during peak summer.

The pool area includes:

  • plenty of loungers

  • shaded seating

  • towel service

  • views of nearby high-rises

It’s not a resort-style pool, but it’s a great place to relax after a long day in LA or to cool off before heading to dinner. Despite the hotel being busy when we visited, the pool never felt overcrowded.

Is Hotel Indigo Los Angeles Downtown Worth It? (Final Verdict)

For our one-night stay in a king room, plus valet parking, we paid $359.61 total. We really liked the fun, modern style of the hotel and the bold personality of the room décor, but the design choices also seemed to hide some wear-and-tear from pets and previous guests.

Our biggest complaint was the bathroom: the handheld shower head sat too low on the wall, the water leaked across the floor, and the overall layout felt cramped. None of these issues were deal breakers, but they did make the room feel less polished than we expected for the price point That said, the property amenities are solid for Downtown LA. The gym is large and well-equipped, the pool area is clean, and the lobby bar/restaurant offers convenience if you don’t want to deal with LA traffic again after checking in. Service during check-in was friendly and efficient, and valet made arrival simple.

So is it worth it? If you find a good nightly rate or want to stay within walking distance of LA Live, the convention center, or downtown attractions, Hotel Indigo can be a convenient option. But at the price we paid, other hotels in the area offer similar quality for a lower cost, especially if room quality is your priority.
