Searching for Pink Palm Hotel reviews? We stayed three nights at The Pink Palm Hotel in St. Thomas and wanted to share an honest breakdown of what the rooms, amenities, location, and pricing are really like. This boutique, adults-only hillside hotel stands out for its vivid colors, huge patios, downtown location, and sweeping ocean views, and we’ll cover whether it’s worth the price for your trip.

How to Get to the Pink Palm Hotel from the St. Thomas Airport (STT)

The Pink Palm Hotel is about 2.8 miles from Cyril E. King Airport (STT), roughly a 10-minute drive depending on traffic. You can reach the hotel by rental car, scooter, or local taxi, but based on our experience, we strongly recommend using taxis.

Our Transportation Experience (and Why We Would Not Rent a Car Again)

We originally rented a car for our three-night stay, and it ended up being one of our biggest regrets. The roads in St. Thomas are narrow, steep, and require driving on the opposite side of the road compared to the continental U.S. Parking is limited in many areas, and navigating the hills at night can be especially stressful. We booked a Hertz rental using our AAA benefits, but at pickup we learned this location was a franchise that would not honor AAA perks. They added multiple fees, and our total jumped from about $300 to nearly $800 for three days. Since we had prepaid part of the cost, we kept the car, but the experience was extremely frustrating.

If you’re considering renting a car to avoid taxi haggling, our honest advice is: don’t. Taxis ended up being easier, cheaper, and far less stressful.

What to Know About Taxis in St. Thomas

Taxis in St. Thomas look different from mainland U.S. taxis. Most are shared, open-air safari trucks with bench seating. They do not use meters, instead, St. Thomas has set fares that apply to specific destinations around the island. Taxis are abundant at beaches, hotels, cruise ports, shopping areas, and popular scenic spots.

You can find a full list of pricing for locations around the island of Saint Thomas here. Luggage, waiting charges, Radio/Phone Calls, and after-hours/odd-hours charges may also be applied when applicable.

Taxi Cost to the Pink Palm Hotel

Because The Pink Palm is a small boutique hotel, it’s not listed as one of the official tariff destinations. Drivers charge based on the closest tariff zone. The nearest matched destination is Blackbeard’s Castle, which typically costs around:

  • $12 per person from the airport

  • $11 per person for groups of two or more

This rate may vary slightly depending on the driver and luggage.

Private Transfers

Private transportation is also available, though significantly more expensive. One-way transfers from STT to the hotel typically cost $80–$130.A company offering private service is Virgin Island Top Taxi and Tours.

Booking the Pink Palm Hotel (Where to Find the Best Rates)

When we visited shortly after the hotel opened, online booking was limited and we had to email the property directly. Today, booking is much easier, rooms are available through both the official Pink Palm Hotel website and Expedia, which now lists updated room categories, photos, and nightly pricing.

For reference, our three-night stay in a large king room cost $1,042.89 including taxes and the $40 nightly resort fee. Rates vary by season, but in general, expect:

  • $250–$400 per night for standard rooms

  • $350–$550+ per night for larger rooms and premium ocean-view categories

Expedia typically shows the full breakdown of taxes and resort fees up front, which makes it easier to compare total trip cost. If you prefer a seamless check-out experience, free cancellation options, or the ability to bundle flights and hotels, Expedia is usually the most convenient choice.

Check-In, Check-Out, and Parking Information at The Pink Palm Hotel

Check-In Experience (4:00 PM Standard Time)

Check-in at The Pink Palm Hotel begins at 4:00 PM. Our experience was memorable and a little unusual, mostly due to the hotel’s hillside location and the fact that there’s no traditional lobby entrance. We initially had trouble finding where to park and almost missed the single, discreet door that leads into the hotel. Once inside, guests must climb a few flights of stairs before reaching the check-in desk. We arrived before the official check-in time, and our room wasn’t ready yet. The front desk staff were friendly and efficient, after completing a quick set of forms, they offered to hold our bags and text us the moment the room was available.

Early Check-In and Where to Wait

While waiting for our room to be ready, we relaxed on the patio near the pool and restaurant, which offers beautiful ocean views and comfortable seating. The hotel provided complimentary welcome drinks, and it was a peaceful spot to unwind and watch the cruise ships in the harbor. Our room was ready shortly afterward, and we were able to check in a little early.

Narrow Parking at the Hotel

Parking at the Pink Palm Hotel

Parking is one of the trickiest parts of staying at this boutique property. The hotel does not have a designated parking lot, and the streets leading to the property are narrow, steep, and one-lane in both directions, with several blind turns. This made driving up to the hotel stressful, especially during our first visit. However, the staff went above and beyond to help. A team member personally walked with us to our rental car, rode with us, and guided us up the hill to the small cluster of three to four street parking spaces near the back entrance that are typically left open for hotel guests. These spots sit along the edge of a small cliff, but they are the closest parking available.

Easy and Flexible Checkout (12:00 PM Standard Time)

Checkout at The Pink Palm Hotel is at 12:00 PM, which is later than many hotels on St. Thomas and gives you extra time to pack, shower, or enjoy a slow morning on the patio before leaving. Our checkout experience was smooth, there was no line, no paperwork, and no complications. We simply returned our keys to the front desk and confirmed that our charges were correct. If you have a later flight or want to explore a little more before heading to the airport, the hotel can store luggage temporarily, and guests are welcome to relax on the patio or grab food downtown before departing.

Room Details: Large King Room at The Pink Palm Hotel

We booked a Large King Room for our three-night stay and paid $1,042.89 including taxes and resort fees. The room lived up to its name, it was huge, vibrant, and full of personality. If you enjoy colorful, boutique-style rooms with plenty of natural light, this one definitely stands out compared to traditional hotels on St. Thomas.

Room Layout & Design

The space was designed with bold Caribbean colors, natural light, and eclectic furnishings. A bright red bench at the foot of the bed immediately grabbed our attention, while one wall featured a green-and-white palm-print wallpaper that tied the whole room together. It felt lively and fun, definitely not your standard chain-hotel décor.

Bathroom Notes

The bathroom continued the bold aesthetic with pink cabinets and gold accents. We did experience two issues during our stay:

  • Low water pressure, which made rinsing shampoo difficult

  • Limited cold water, which was tough in the heat and humidity

In the evenings, once the room was cooler, the shower was more comfortable.

Patio & Views

The highlight of the room was easily the massive private patio. It included:

  • A large circular daybed

  • Two bright pink egg-style chairs

  • Plenty of space to spread out

  • Incredible hillside and ocean views

From our patio we could watch cruise ships roll into Charlotte Amalie, and at one point we could even hear them. Mosquitos were a problem outdoors and occasionally made their way inside, even if we only opened the door briefly. Fortunately, the hotel provided an electric bug zapper, which turned into a surprisingly fun late-night activity.

Coffee Bar & Storage

One of our favorite features was the large wet/coffee bar, complete with:

  • A built-in sink

  • A Nespresso machine

  • An electric kettle

  • Coffee pods, cream, and sugar

  • Cups and an ice bucket

The sink was surprisingly useful for rinsing cups or washing hands when we entered the room. Storage was generous as well, with a multi-drawer dresser and a standing wardrobe that included a safe, iron, and ironing board. Next to the coffee bar was a small seating area with two bright pink chairs and a coffee table, a cozy spot for eating breakfast or enjoying an espresso in the morning.

Property & Amenities at The Pink Palm Hotel

Pool, Hot Tub, and Common Areas

The Pink Palm Hotel’s property matches the playful, colorful style of its rooms. The pool and hot tub are lined with bright green tile, surrounded by pink lounge chairs and vibrant décor. The pool is on the smaller side, but with only 28 rooms on the property, it never felt crowded during our visit. Next to the pool area is a small restaurant and bar, as well as a convenient self-serve towel stand near the front desk. This came in handy when heading out to the beaches.

Bar & Restaurant Experience

When we stayed shortly after the hotel opened, the on-site restaurant didn’t yet have a chef, so we weren’t able to try the food. The bar was open, however, and guests received a free welcome drink as part of the resort fee. We did run into one issue: Elijah picked up both welcome drinks for our room, but only one was marked as complimentary, the second was accidentally charged to our account. We believe this was simply a misunderstanding, but it’s worth double-checking your bill if only one person goes to the bar to collect the drinks.

Breakfast is included in the $40 nightly resort fee and is delivered to your door each morning in a small picnic basket. Inside, we received:

  • Cut fruit

  • Two yogurts

  • Two muffins

  • Two coffees

The presentation was cute, but the quality was hit-or-miss. Our fruit was often mushy or browning, the muffins were not great, and the yogurts arrived warm since they were packed next to hot coffee. Once the on-site kitchen is fully staffed, this is likely an area that will improve.

Additional Amenities (Massages, Pet-Friendly Rooms, and Luggage Storage)

The hotel offers indoor and outdoor massages from Tuesday through Sunday, though we didn’t try them during our stay. The Pink Palm is also dog-friendly, with select rooms available for guests traveling with pets. A $110 non-refundable pet fee applies.

One amenity we really appreciated was the free eight-hour luggage storage. Since we arrived before check-in, we dropped off our bags and spent the morning relaxing by the pool without needing to carry anything around.

Is the Pink Palm Hotel Worth It? (Our Honest Verdict)

After a three-night stay at The Pink Palm Hotel, we felt that the experience offered great value for the price. Our Large King Room ($1,042.89 total) came with a massive furnished patio, vibrant Caribbean décor, and some of the best hillside and ocean views we had during our time on St. Thomas. The boutique style and bold design made the hotel feel unique compared to larger, more traditional island resorts. There were a few downsides during our stay, mainly the low water pressure, limited cold water in the shower, and the inconsistent breakfast basket, which we expect will improve once the on-site kitchen is fully operational. These issues didn’t ruin the stay, but they’re worth knowing about ahead of time.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would return once the hotel has been open longer and the restaurant is fully staffed. The Pink Palm offers a memorable, colorful, boutique experience that stands out from other hotels in St. Thomas, and the views alone were worth the stay.
