Searching for Four Seasons New Orleans reviews? We stayed four nights in a superior city-view king room and wanted to share an honest breakdown of the rooms, amenities, dining, service, pricing, and overall value. This luxury riverfront hotel features a rooftop pool overlooking the Mississippi River, an observation deck 34 stories up, and easy access to the French Quarter for beignets, live jazz, and sightseeing.

Our stay cost $1,257.17 after a third-night-free promotion (the free night was prorated into the nightly rate), and in this review we’ll cover what the hotel is actually like, and whether it’s worth the price for your trip.

Getting to the Four Seasons Hotel New Orleans

The Four Seasons Hotel New Orleans is located about 16 miles (roughly 25 minutes) from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY). You’ll have several options for getting into the city, depending on your budget and comfort level, rideshare, taxi, hotel-arranged transportation, rental car, or public transit.

Rideshare (Uber/Lyft)

We booked an Uber from MSY, which is typically the easiest option and the one we use whenever we don’t need a rental car. There were plenty of drivers available, and pickup was quick and straightforward.

  • Cost: just under $50

  • Time: ~25 minutes

We liked having control over drop-off, payment, and pricing upfront.

Taxi

If you prefer taxis, MSY uses set pricing for the city center and the French Quarter.

  • Cost: $36 for up to two passengers (hotel is just outside the Quarter but still close)

  • Payment: Taxis must accept credit cards

  • Pickup: Designated taxi loading zone at the airport

This is actually cheaper than Uber/Lyft during surge hours.

Hotel Transportation (Four Seasons)

Guests can pre-book private transportation directly through the hotel. This is the most premium (and most expensive) option.

  • Cost: Starting around $155 for two passengers (domestic arrival)

  • Higher-end vehicles and larger groups can reach $500+

  • Convenience: Meet-and-greet service at the airport

This option is best suited to luxury travelers or anyone arriving late at night who wants a seamless transfer.

Rental Car

We debated renting a car but ultimately decided against it, and we’re glad we didn’t.

Most locals and travelers recommend skipping a rental car in New Orleans due to:

  • Expensive parking

  • Narrow and crowded streets

  • Limited availability of free or safe parking

  • Easy walkability + rideshare options

If you do rent a car:

  • Rental car cost: about $125 per day after taxes/fees

  • Four Seasons parking: valet only, $64 per night

  • Total daily cost: almost $190/day

Unless you're planning multiple day trips outside the city, a rental car isn’t worth the hassle or money.

Public Transit

Two bus routes run from MSY into New Orleans:

Both cost $1.25–$2, making them the cheapest way to reach the city. However, travel times are long, and the buses don’t drop you close to the hotel, so we wouldn’t recommend this for first-time visitors or anyone carrying luggage.

Check-In & Check-Out at the Four Seasons Hotel New Orleans

Check-In (3:00 PM)

Check-in at the Four Seasons Hotel New Orleans begins at 3:00 PM. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by the hotel’s doormen, who opened the doors and welcomed us with true Four Seasons hospitality. The burst of cool air conditioning at the entrance was a relief from the summer heat, and the lobby offered a complimentary drink station with cold water in the afternoons and coffee and fruit in the mornings. We used this drink station constantly, it made a noticeable difference in the New Orleans humidity. Walking into the lobby, the Chandelier Bar absolutely steals the spotlight with its sparkling glasswork and dramatic design. It’s easy to miss the check-in desk because of how eye-catching the bar is. The front desk is small and located directly across from the bar, and our check-in was quick, friendly, and seamless. There was no line when we arrived, and the staff gave us a warm welcome before directing us toward the elevators.

Check-Out (12:00 PM)

Check-out is at 12:00 PM, and the process was just as smooth as our arrival. We left our keys in the room and received our final bill via email a few hours later. Before heading to the airport, we stopped by the lobby drink station to grab coffee for the ride, another small but thoughtful touch that made mornings easier. Throughout our stay, the complimentary waters and coffee were one of our favorite amenities and a convenient way to stay cool and hydrated before stepping out into the humidity.

Room Details at the Four Seasons Hotel New Orleans

We stayed four nights in a Superior City-View King Room and paid $1,257.17, which reflects a special offer that included a free third night. The room felt spacious, modern, and upscale, with warm décor and thoughtful touches throughout. A large window overlooked the city skyline, and inside the room you’ll find a sofa, an accent chair, a small dining table with two chairs, and a plush king bed.

Bathroom & Amenities

The bathroom was the star of the room, and one of our favorite features of the entire stay. Designed with bright marble accents, it includes:

  • A huge soaking tub

  • A separate walk-in shower

  • A private water closet

  • Double vanities (depending on room layout)

  • Full-size refillable toiletries (soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner)

Everything was exceptionally clean and felt luxurious. After long days exploring the city in the heat, relaxing in the soaking tub was a highlight. The room also included two plush bathrobes and slippers, adding to the spa-like feel.

Design Touches & Bedding

A fun and unique detail is the shiplap wall paneling in the hallway, a nod to riverboats that once traveled the Mississippi River. It gives the room a subtle New Orleans identity without feeling themed. The king bed was soft, supportive, and layered in crisp white bedding with multiple pillows. We slept extremely well here. If you create a Four Seasons profile, you can even set preferences for pillow types and mattress firmness for future stays, one of the more personalized touches the brand is known for.

In-Room Coffee Bar & Minibar

Near the entryway is a small espresso bar with:

  • A Nespresso machine

  • Multiple pod varieties

  • Espresso cups

  • Cream and sugar packets

There is also a minibar fridge stocked with sparkling water, sodas, snacks, wine, and spirits (all available for purchase). It’s conveniently placed and easy to access.

In-Room Technology & Services

Next to the bed, a sleek touchscreen tablet allows you to:

  • Message the front desk

  • Request items

  • Order room service

  • Ask for late checkout

  • Make reservations

We used the device several times during our stay, and the staff always responded quickly. Being able to handle requests without making a phone call was incredibly convenient and made the stay feel even more modern and seamless.

Room Service Review at the Four Seasons Hotel New Orleans

We ordered room service on our first night, hoping to ease into our stay with a relaxing in-room dinner. However, the experience fell short of the typical Four Seasons standard, especially in a city with such a strong food reputation.

We ordered:

  • Orecchiette pasta

  • A club sandwich

  • Beignets

  • A chocolate mousse

The pasta was decent but not particularly memorable, and the sandwich felt underwhelming with produce that didn’t taste very fresh. The mousse had a nice flavor, but the fruit served with it was also subpar. The most surprising part of the meal were the beignets, which were delivered in a paper bag rather than a plate or basket, an odd presentation for a luxury hotel, even though the flavor itself was good.

The total cost came out to a little over $100 after the service fee and tip. Based on the quality, we ultimately decided to eat at local restaurants for the rest of the trip. New Orleans has an incredible food scene, so guests may prefer dining out rather than relying on room service during their stay.

Property Perks at the Four Seasons Hotel New Orleans

The Four Seasons Hotel New Orleans has a number of amenities that make it feel like a true urban resort, perfect for guests looking to unwind in between exploring the French Quarter.

Pool Deck with Mississippi River Views: The fourth-floor “rooftop” pool is one of the highlights of the property. The deck overlooks the Mississippi River, with plenty of lounge chairs available throughout the day. The views alone make this a relaxing place to spend a few hours.

On-Site Spa: The hotel’s spa offers an extensive menu of massages, facials, body treatments, couples’ experiences, cabana rentals, and full spa bundles. We did not have time to try the spa during our visit, but the treatment list is robust and aligns with Four Seasons luxury standards.

24-Hour Fitness Center: The gym is one of the better hotel gyms we’ve experienced. It’s open 24/7, fully stocked with clean equipment, a range of weights and machines, and complimentary towels and water. A huge perk for anyone sticking to their workout routine while traveling.

Turn-Down Service: Guests can opt in for evening turn-down service, where the bed is prepped for sleep and amenities are refreshed. We used it during one night of our stay and appreciated returning to a fully restocked room, especially after using all the water bottles and espresso pods earlier in the day.

Observation Deck: Vue Orleans: Located on the 34th floor, Vue Orleans offers panoramic views of New Orleans and the Mississippi River. Hotel guests receive a discounted admission rate, but access is not included in the room price. We didn’t have time to visit, but it’s worth considering if you want a birds-eye view of the city.

Lobby & Entertainment: The lobby’s famous chandelier bar is stunning and often features live music in the evenings. It draws both guests and locals and adds a lively, upscale atmosphere to the hotel. The property also has two restaurants, Miss River and Chemin À la Mer, which adds to the convenience for guests wanting luxury dining on-site.

Dining at the Four Seasons Hotel New Orleans

Although we did not dine at the on-site restaurants during our stay, the Four Seasons features two signature dining options worth knowing about:

Miss River

A modern take on New Orleans classics, created by award-winning Chef Alon Shaya. This restaurant focuses on elevated Louisiana dishes with bold, rich flavors. It’s often recommended for guests who want a refined, upscale introduction to New Orleans cuisine.

Chemin À la Mer

Meaning “pathway to the sea,” this steakhouse-style restaurant is located on an upper floor with sweeping river views. The restaurant serves seafood-forward dishes, steaks, and Southern-inspired plates in a cozy but elegant setting. Many guests recommend coming around sunset for the best views.

Why We Didn’t Dine On-Site

Our room service experience was underwhelming on the first night of our stay, so we opted to explore New Orleans’ restaurant scene instead. Since the Four Seasons sources its room service from its hotel kitchens, we couldn’t determine which restaurant prepared our dishes. Because of that uncertainty, and because New Orleans has such standout local dining, we chose to eat out for the remainder of the trip.

Who This Hotel Is Best For

Great for:

  • Travelers looking for a luxurious, design-forward stay in New Orleans

  • Guests who want walking access to the French Quarter without staying directly in it

  • Couples seeking amenities like a rooftop pool, spa, and upscale lobby bar

  • Visitors booking during promotional periods (e.g., “third night free”)

Not ideal for:

  • Travelers who place a high priority on exceptional in-room dining

  • Budget-focused visitors or those seeking lower nightly rates

  • Guests who want to stay directly inside the French Quarter nightlife

Verdict: Is the Four Seasons Hotel New Orleans Worth It?

The Four Seasons Hotel New Orleans delivers a true luxury escape from the second you step through the doors. The chandelier bar is the centerpiece of the lobby and immediately sets the tone for the rest of your stay, refined, atmospheric, and indulgent. We paid $1,257.17 for four nights (with a “third night free” promotion applied) and stayed in a Superior City-View room. Between the oversized soaking tub, plush bathrobes and slippers, and spacious layout, the room made it easy to unwind after full days of exploring New Orleans.

The hotel’s location is one of its strongest advantages, sitting right along the Mississippi River with easy walkability into the French Quarter via the Riverwalk. Whether you’re heading to Café du Monde for beignets or simply taking in river views from the pool deck, the property is positioned perfectly for both exploring and relaxing. We did feel the room service fell short of the typical Four Seasons standard, particularly the quality of produce and overall presentation. However, one of our favorite features of the hotel, the lobby drink station, reinforced the brand’s focus on guest comfort. Complimentary coffee in the mornings and ice-cold waters in the afternoon became a daily part of our routine and helped us stay cool in the summer humidity.

If you’re considering a stay, be sure to check online for seasonal promotions. The free-night offer we received made the stay significantly more affordable without sacrificing the luxury experience.
