In the middle of the Las Vegas desert, we stepped into a bar made entirely of ice. On our trip, we visited Minus5 Ice Bar to see if this frozen experience was actually worth the hype, and the price. Minus5 Ice Bar is kept at -5°C (23°F), with everything inside made of ice, including the walls, seats, and even the drinkware. We booked the standard entry ticket for $24 per person, which included parkas, gloves, and access to the ice bar itself.

In this post, we’re breaking down ticket options, drink prices, which Minus5 location is best, and whether this ice bar experience is worth visiting, based entirely on our own experience.

Our Minus5 Ice Bar Experience in Las Vegas

Arriving at Minus5 Ice Bar (LINQ Location, Check-In & Gear)

We booked our tickets online the same day we planned to visit Minus5 Ice Bar, reserving a 5:00–8:00 PM time slot on a Monday. We arrived right around 5:00 PM and had no wait to get in. After checking in with the staff outside and showing our IDs, we were taken to get fitted for parkas. A team member visually sized us and handed us jackets they thought would fit best before directing us inside.

We first walked through a short hallway where we were given gloves and a quick explanation of how the ice bar works. Once inside, we realized our jackets didn’t button comfortably. We wore them unbuttoned, which still worked fine as insulation. Parkas are available in sizes small through 3XL, and faux fur coats are offered in small through XXL. One thing to note: the gloves provided do not work with phone touchscreens, so we had to remove them anytime we wanted to take photos or videos.

Inside the Ice Bar (Atmosphere, Size & Temperature)

The entrance into the ice bar itself is through a large industrial freezer door, fitting for a bar made entirely of ice in the middle of the desert. Once inside, you’re greeted by a “Welcome to the Ice Bar” sign styled like the iconic Welcome to Las Vegas sign, followed by a narrow hallway with glowing ice walls. The theming starts immediately. During our visit, the walls featured ice sculptures of Heat Miser and Snow Miser, lit from within in their signature colors. As we moved further into the space, we quickly realized something unexpected, we were the only people inside.

The bar is relatively small, roughly the size of a small apartment (around 500 square feet). It didn’t take long to see everything, but having the space to ourselves made it easy to explore, take photos, and really look at the details without feeling rushed or crowded.

Despite being surrounded by ice, the temperature never felt uncomfortable. It was actually a refreshing break from the Las Vegas heat outside.

Minus5 Drink Prices & Menu (What We Ordered)

We wanted to order drinks shortly after entering, but initially didn’t see a bartender. After a short wait, one came out and took our order. The drink menu is fairly limited, with a small selection of cocktails, a few mocktails, and boozy hot chocolate. Drinks were priced between $15 and $20. We ordered an Old Fashioned, which cost about $18 before tip. For the price, it was on the weaker side, which was a bit disappointing. We were also surprised that there were no happy hour specials, especially given how slow it was at the time.

The gloves may not work with phones, but they are definitely useful for holding the ice glasses. There are standard coasters throughout the bar so you can set drinks down without them freezing to the tables. One thing we found interesting, and a little concerning, is that the ice cups are reused. That raised questions for us about how ice glasses are sanitized between uses. We’re genuinely curious about the process, because it’s not immediately obvious how that works.

Seating, Ice Sculptures & Overall Vibe

The bar has several booth-style seating areas for groups. The benches are topped with fur throws so you’re not sitting directly on ice, although they did shift a bit, and we occasionally made contact with the ice underneath. There are also a few standing tables scattered throughout the space.

The walls of the bar are entirely made of ice and decorated with detailed carvings and statues. Some of the sculptures may not be kid-friendly, including multiple topless female statues, which is worth noting for families.

Because we visited close to Halloween, the ice carvings were themed for the season. We saw characters like Ghostface from the Scream movies and King Kong, along with an ice DJ booth and a TV playing videos of people dancing at ice bar events.

How Long You’ll Actually Want to Stay

We stayed seated at one of the ice booths for a while, mostly because we felt like we needed to stay longer to justify the cost. By that point, we had already explored the entire bar, ordered a drink, and taken plenty of photos and videos.

With no crowd and limited space, there wasn’t much left to do beyond hanging out. We passed the time taking funny wide-angle (.5) photos of each other around the bar. Ultimately, we were inside for less than an hour. Between two entrance tickets and one drink, we spent about $70 total.

As we were leaving and returning our jackets, we were told we could either keep the gloves or throw them away. There was a massive trash bin filled with discarded gloves near the exit, which was honestly shocking. The amount of single-use waste felt unnecessary, and we wish Minus5 would invest in reusable, washable gloves or a more sustainable solution

Drink Prices Inside the Ice Bar

Cocktails inside Minus5 Ice Bar generally cost $15–$20. We ordered an Old Fashioned, which was $18 before tip. The drink menu is fairly small, with a limited selection of cocktails, a few mocktails, and boozy hot chocolate. Drinks are served in ice glasses, which adds to the novelty of the experience, but portions are not especially large. For the price, the cocktail we tried was on the lighter side, which is something to keep in mind if you’re deciding between buying drinks individually or choosing a ticket that includes them.

Know Before You Go: Minus5 Ice Bar Tips

How Cold Is Minus5 Ice Bar?

The bar is kept at -5°C (23°F). While that sounds intense, we didn’t find it uncomfortably cold thanks to the provided parkas and gloves. That said, jackets may not always fit perfectly, so layering underneath can help if you run cold.

How Long Do People Usually Stay?

Most visitors don’t stay very long. We were inside for under an hour, which was enough time to explore the space, order a drink, and take photos. The bar itself is fairly small, so once you’ve seen everything, there isn’t much else to do besides hang out.

What Should You Wear?

You don’t need to dress heavily, but a few things help:

  • Closed-toe shoes (the floor and seating are ice)

  • Pants instead of shorts

  • Clothing with pockets, phones drain faster in the cold

  • The provided gloves do not work with phone touchscreens, so expect to remove them when taking photos.

Is Minus5 Ice Bar Good for Groups or Kids?

Minus5 can be fun for couples, friend groups, and first-time visitors looking for a quick novelty experience. Children ages 7–12 are allowed before 9:00 PM with an adult, but parents should be aware that some ice sculptures may not be kid-friendly.

Other Things Worth Knowing

  • There are no happy hour specials, even during slower times

  • Drinks are served in ice glasses, and cocktails are priced at a premium

  • Phones can lose battery quickly in the cold

  • Gloves are single-use; you’ll be asked to keep or discard them when leaving

Is Minus5 Ice Bar Worth It? Our Honest Verdict

Overall, we thought Minus5 Ice Bar was a cool experience, literally. It’s fun, well-themed, and a unique way to escape the Las Vegas heat for about an hour.

Would we go again? Maybe, but only under the right circumstances. We could see ourselves returning with a larger group of friends or family, or during a busy Friday or Saturday night when the bar is lively. Visiting again as just the two of us on a quiet Monday evening? Probably not. Being the only people inside for a while felt a bit awkward, and the lack of a bartender for the first 10–15 minutes made the space feel even emptier. As more guests eventually arrived, the atmosphere did start to pick up. If you go, we’d recommend choosing a busier time slot or going with a group, an ice bar is much more fun when there’s energy in the room. Being in an ice bar alone can feel… ice-olating.

From a pricing perspective, $24 for entry is actually reasonable by Las Vegas standards. Paying that amount to step into a fully themed ice bar, take photos, and have a one-of-a-kind experience is fairly inexpensive compared to many other attractions on the Strip. Drinks are priced at a premium, but that’s expected for the novelty.
