Worth Your Wallet is documenting a Route 66 Centennial journey from Chicago to Santa Monica, exploring how America’s most iconic road trip has evolved from the 1920s to today.
Along the way, we’ll highlight the nostalgic roadside Americana that made Route 66 famous, neon signs, retro diners, motels, historic gas stations, roadside attractions, and small-town landmarks, while also documenting the modern travel experience through EV charging, digital route planning, sustainable tourism, and practical travel resources.

About the Project
To honor the 100th Anniversary of Route 66, this project will combine historic preservation, tourism promotion, and modern transportation storytelling to inspire a new generation to experience Route 66 during its Centennial year and encourage continued economic activity across communities along the Mother Road.
Our team will document and share a modern electric vehicle journey across the entire historic route,highlighting the evolution of the American road trip from the 1920s to today. Through cinematic video storytelling, photography, and written travel guides, the project will contrast the nostalgic roadside Americana of Route 66 neon signs, retro diners, motels, and historic gas stations with modern EV technology and infrastructure.
The campaign will explore how Route 66 continues adapting for future generations of travelers while promoting sustainable tourism and supporting local businesses along the route. Content will include practical EV travel guidance, charging resources, destination recommendations, and spotlights on independently owned restaurants, shops, and roadside attractions.
